The translation of the Lexikon der antiken christlichen Literatur edited by S. Döpp and W. Geerlings, which in Germany reached its 3rd edition (Herder, 2002) within a short time, has now been published in Italy. The work is connected to the renowned Patrology of B. Altaner, a hand-book more than once reviewed and edited and through which generations of theologians and scholars of ancient Christian literature, were trained. This Italian translation corresponds to the 3rd German edition, which is remarkably wider in scope in comparison to the two previous editions.

The original text has been respected while the bibliography, besides being updated to the most recent production, has been enriched by references to extremely valuable studies and works published in Italy.
