FRIEDRICH-WILHELM VON HERRMANN - È professore di Filosofia presso l’Università di Friburgo in Germania. È stato discepolo e stretto collaboratore di Heidegger negli ultimi anni di vita del filosofo, quando questi preparava l’edizione completa delle sue opere, di cui von Herrmann è attualmente il coordinatore. 

Oltre alla cura e all’edizione di molti testi heideggeriani, ha dedicato numerosi scritti all’elaborazione di tematiche centrali del pensiero di Heidegger e all’interpretazione di alcuni testi classici della tradizione filosofica.

l volume riporta gli atti del primo colloquio filosofico svoltosi nell’ambito dell’Area Internazionale di Ricerca dedicata al tema “Ritorno alla Metafisica e Pensiero Post-moderno”. 

L’intento generale di quest’area di ricerca è quello di un confronto sereno, meditato e documentato con alcuni dei rappresentanti più significativi, dalle più diverse provenienze, del pensiero post-metafisico. 

La ricerca prende le mosse da Heidegger, il filosofo che nel secolo scorso ha dedicato tutta l’energia del suo pensiero al problema della metafisica e che con la sua tesi del superamento della metafisica ha aperto il campo a una vasta proliferazione di interpretazioni accomunate nella convinzione che il significato di quella tesi comportasse il distacco e l’abbandono di ogni metafisica. 

Il prof. Friedrich-Wilhelm von Herrmann, dell’Università di Friburgo in Germania, discepolo e collaboratore di Heidegger, editore della Gesamtausgabe delle sue opere, nella sua lezione ha portato un contributo di singolare originalità, esponendo con abbondante e rigorosa documentazione testuale e con acuta penetrazione di pensiero il senso genuino della tesi del “superamento” della metafisica. Nelle sue stesse parole: “superamento” della metafisica significa “superamento della barriera interna che ha impedito alla metafisica di afferrare più radicalmente la sua propria tendenza interrogativa”. Con ciò si collegano due altre considerazioni di estrema validità. Innanzitutto il fatto che la metafisica in Heidegger funge da guida al pensiero ontologico-fondamentale e al pensiero appartenente alla storia dell’essere, in modo tale da potersi affermare che tra la metafisica e la duplice linea di pensiero tracciata e percorsa da Heidegger sussiste una “essenziale coappartenenza”. In secondo luogo, a partire da questa “essenziale coappartenenza” si può giungere a sostenere la tesi del “ritorno alla metafisica” nel pensiero di Heidegger, nel senso di “ritorno dal fraintendimento alla vera comprensione della metafisica”. 

Questa interpretazione rappresenta una indiscutibile novità entro l’ecumene delle esegesi heideggeriane e costituisce un preciso punto di riferimento che apre nuove vie per la comprensione del pensiero di Heidegger sulla metafisica, sul suo valore e sul suo significato. 

Alla lezione di von Herrmann è poi seguita una tavola rotonda alla quale hanno preso parte alcuni qualificati studiosi. Nel volume sono riportati gli interventi di: João Piedade, Pietro De Vitiis, Leonardo V. Distaso, Gennaro Cicchese, Jeroen Buve, Gaspare Mura.

The Author

Friedrich-Wilhelm von Herrmann: Professor of Philosophy in the University of Freeburg in Germany. He was disciple and close collaborator of Heidegger in his last years, when he was preparing the opera omnia of his woks, of which von Herrmann is currently the coordinator.

Besides editing many Heidegger’s books, he dedicated many of his works to the central issues of Heidegger’s thought and the interpretation of some classical texts of the Philosophical tradition.

This volume reports the acts of the first philosophical talk which took place within the framework of the International Area of Research, dedicated to the theme “Return to Metaphysics, Post-modern thought”.

This area of research is generally aimed to offer a serene and documented discussion with some of the most outstanding representatives -from so many different traditions- of the post-metaphysical

The research moves from Heidegger, the philosopher who, in the last century, devoted all the energy of his thought, to the question of metaphysics and who, with his thesis of the overcoming of the metaphysics, has opened a new way to a huge proliferation of interpretations that had in common the conviction that the meaning of that thesis, was the detachment and abandonment of all metaphysics.

Professor Friedrich-Wilhelm von Herrmann, of the University of Freeburg in Germany, disciple and collaborator of Heidegger, editor of the Gesamtausgabe of his works, with his lesson, brought about a very original contribution. He presented with abundant and rigorous documentation and with sharp penetration of thought, the genuine sense of the thesis of the “overcoming” of metaphysics. In his own words: “overcoming” of metaphysics , means “overcoming of the inner barrier that has impeded to metaphysics to grasp more radically its own interrogative tendency”. Two more considerations come out of this, both of extreme interest and validity. First of all, the fact that metaphysics in Heidegger work as a guide to the ontological-fundamental thought and to the thought which belongs to the history of being, in such a way as to let one assert that between metaphysics and the twofold line of Heidegger’s thought, there is an “essential co-belonging”. Secondly, by having this “essential co-belonging” as a starting point, one can reach the issue of “return to metaphysics” according to Heidegger’s thought, in the sense of “return from misunderstanding to real understanding of metaphysics”.

This represents an unquestionable newness in the ecumene of Heidegger’s exegesis and a precise point of reference that opens up new ways to understand Heidegger’s thought about metaphysics, its value and meanings.
