Practical Rules

        

LIBRARY ACCESS

 

  • Students of the University shall give the card to the library staff for optical scanning.

  • Users without an admission card are required to register at the entrance and leave their identity papers.

  • Users can bring study material only in the reading room.

  • Any other object shall be left in the cloakroom (bags, overcoats, coats, jackets, etc.)

  • Users are kindly requested to ask the doorkeeper for the keys of the cloakroom’s lockers.

  • The absolute silence reigns in the Reading Room.

Therefore, all readers are kindly requested to avoid any kind of disturbance.

  • Readers are allowed to use small and soundless laptops. Whoever uses a laptop is personally responsible for the equipment and its security. The library cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by power failures or any other reason that may cause deletion of data or files.

  • Internet access is available as a tool for research, study and teaching within the University.

  • PCs must be left switched on after use.

BOOK CONSULTATION

 

  • Books with a classification number starting by SL (= Sala Lettura in Italian) are available in the reading room and can be taken directly from the shelves.

  • After consultation books shall be left on the study table.

  • Current year reviews are available from the Reading Room’s shelves.

  • Books with other classification numbers shall be asked for by filling out the relevant request form (white for books, green for reviews).

  • When filling out the form, users shall mention the precise classification of the volume/review reported in the paper catalogue at the Library entrance (for books printed until 1994) or on the electronic catalogue (in the computer room).

  • Request forms are accepted from  9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. , Monday to Thursday and from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on Friday.

  • No request can be accepted out of these hours.

  • Each request shall be limited to 3 volumes in the morning and 3 volumes in the afternoon.  Users can withdraw the books asked for at the distribution desk.

  • Users shall be present in the reading room when filling out the request form.

  • After consultation books shall be left on the tables.

  • To continue the consultation during the following days users are required to leave the books in the same place together with a note saying “Maneat” or “Reserved”.

  • On Friday, all books are placed back on the shelves of the storeroom.

  • The Library accepts no responsibility for personal belongings left unattended in the library and in the lockers.
